De Sangiovise Mænd

Så er det i morgen, at den store sangiovese-smagning finder sted. Egentlig ville jeg gerne starte vinsjovheden i dag ved at drage til Franske Vindage, men de øvrige vinklubsmedlemmer har ikke tid. Jeg spiller noget basket i stedet.

Nå, men i morgen skal vi smage:

Il Poggio Riserva 2004, Monsanto
Land: Italien
Område: Barberino Val d’Elsa, Firenze, Chianti Classico
Druer: 90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo / Colorino
Alkohol: 14%

The 2004 Chianti Classico Riserva Il Poggio is simply gorgeous. It is a layered, finessed wine of notable detail, with tons of potential hiding behind its restrained facade. With air, notes of earthiness, tobacco, spices, menthol and dark fruit gradually emerge from this classically built wine. Although the wine is beautifully balanced today, it requires additional cellaring to blossom fully.


Tignanello 2006, Marchesi Antinori

The 2006 Tignanello is especially opulent in this vintage. Masses of dark red fruit, scorched earth and sweet oak emerge as this richly-textured Tignanello flows from the glass. The wine possesses superb density; all it needs is another few years to come together. This is a remarkably vibrant and primary Tignanello.

The wine’s beauty and intensity are impossible to match. There’s enormous complexity of aromas here with chocolate, black tar, spice, blackberry, forest currant and tobacco. You’ll pick up toasted oak tones as well, but they are carefully balanced within the naturally supple and smooth essence of this standout Brunello.
